Iowa City police respond to shooting at apartment complex

IOWA CITY - Iowa City police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex on the west side of Iowa City.
Lt. Denise Brotherton said police were called to 2626 Bartelt Road, at approximately 5:27 p.m. Monday evening for reports of a shooting and a person on the ground.
According to a media release from the Iowa City Police Department, as officers were responding to the Bartelt Road location the Johnson County Emergency Center received a call informing them that a gunshot victim was being treated at the University of Iowa Hospital Emergency Room.
The release states that preliminary investigation indicates that an adult male was shot in the parking lot of the Pheasant Ridge apartment complex. This man appeared to be the only victim and Iowa City Police detectives believe the shooting was not random and that there is no further threat to the general public, according to the release.
According to the release, the Iowa City Police Investigations Division is actively investigating this incident. The shooting victim remains at UIHC where he remains in stable condition, according to the release.
Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of this suspect. Police are urging those with information about this crime to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential and the identity of the caller does not need to be revealed for them to collect their reward, according to the release.
