Iowa City police organizing dodgeball fundraiser for Special Olympics

IOWA CITY - The Iowa City Police Department will be among other area law enforcement teams raising money for the Iowa Special Olympics through a dodgeball tournament.
The police department is organizing the dodgeball tournament, which is scheduled to kick off next month. The organizers are looking for up to 36 teams to participate in the tournament. Each time will consist of seven to 10 players at least 12 years old. Teams will have a six-match guarantee.
Other teams will include the Coralville, North Liberty and University of Iowa police departments.
The tournament will begin on Sunday, Nov. 8 at Grant Wood Elementary, 1930 Lakeside Drive.
The registration fee is $200 per team. To sign up, go to www.firstgiving.com/soiowa. Funds raised by the tournament will go to the Special Olympics.
