IOWA CITY - An arrest has been made in a two-year-old robbery case.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, Larry L. Hook, of 406 Waterway Dr., has been charged with second-degree robbery for the robbery of Romantix on April 22, 2014.
Police said on that day, just before 11 p.m., Hook entered the adult entertainment store at 315 Kirkwood Ave. wearing University of Iowa running shorts, a matching hoodie and hat and black shoes. Police said Hook's hood was pulled up and he was holding something in the pouch.
The store clerk told Hook to put his hood down, but Hook refused. He then told the clerk he would put the hood down when he gave him money, before coming around the counter and threatening the clerk. Police said the clerk opened the cash drawer and Hook took approximately $61. No weapon was ever displayed.
Officers and a K-9 checked the area, but were unable to find the suspect. They did, however, locate the clothing worn during the robbery near the store and were able to obtain a DNA sample. On July 13, 2015, police learned Hook's DNA was on the clothing.
Police said Hook matched the basic description of the suspect.
Hook has been arrested and faces one count of second-degree robbery, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
