IOWA CITY - Iowa City police are seeking information after an intoxicated college-age man was found late Wednesday night with serious injuries.
Police said a criminal act didn't necessarily occur, but they are trying to figure out what happened to the man. It's possible he fell down some stairs, police said.
'We really don't know,” said Lt. Dave Droll. 'It's a fishing expedition to see if anybody might have an idea as to what happened to the guy.”
Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the 300 block of South Linn Street at 11:54 p.m. after a passer-by saw a man who might have fallen down some stairs. First responders took the man - who Droll described as college-aged - to the hospital, where he was treated for serious, but non-life threatening internal injuries. The cause of his injuries are unknown, police said.
'He had very little external trauma, which you would expect from an assault,” Droll said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Iowa City Police Department at (319) 356-5275.
