Iowa City Police investigating early morning stabbing on Ped Mall

IOWA CITY - Police are investigating an early morning stabbing on the Pedestrian Mall.
According to a news release, Iowa City police officers were called to the fountain in the Ped Mall around 12:56 a.m. Sunday for a report of a stabbing. Responding officers found both the victim and a suspect in the stabbing.
Authorities said the victim had multiple stab wounds and was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment. The wounds do not appear to be life threatening, police said.
Charges are pending against the suspect, who was not named in the news release. Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (319) 358-8477.
