Iowa City police investigating armed robbery

IOWA CITY - Iowa City police are investigating an armed robbery.
Officers responded to the 400 block of South Governor Street at 8:16 p.m. Monday for a report of an armed robbery. There, the alleged victim told police she had just parked her vehicle in the lot at 404 S. Governor St. and was walking to an apartment building when she was approached by a man with a gun.
Police said the man demanded cash. When the victim was unable to turn over any money, the man fled on foot. A search of the area did not turn up the suspect, police said.
The suspect was described as being approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a short black jacket and carrying a small black handgun. The woman was not injured in the robbery, police said.
