Iowa City police investigate car burglaries

IOWA CITY - Iowa City police are investigating a series of car burglaries.
According to a department news release, around 1:22 a.m. Monday, officers responded to the 900 block of West Benton Street for a report of two black men burglarizing cars. Police located the suspects, who ran away and were able to avoid apprehension. The men were described as young, slender and approximately 5'8” tall.
Police said some vehicles in the area had been broken into and one victim was located. Police said they believe more vehicles have been burglarized and ask that any victims report it to the police department.

Additionally, Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 cash for information leading to the arrest of these suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 358-8477.
