Iowa City Police: BB gun shooting was accidental

IOWA CITY - A girl who claimed last month she was shot with a BB gun lied about the incident, police said.
Iowa City police responded to a report of a girl who had been shot near the eye with a BB gun in the 2200 block of Davis Street the afternoon of April 28. The girl - who suffered from bleeding and loss of vision - told police she saw a group of five to nine men just before being shot.
On Monday, police said they determined the BB gun shooting was accidental and that the reporting party filed a false report. The case is now closed, police said.
