Iowa City police announce new officer

IOWA CITY - The Iowa City Police Department has announced a new hire.
On Friday, Jesse Drahos was sworn in during a ceremony at city hall.
Drahos, 32, is a 14-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps with four years of active duty and 10 years as a reserve. He is a 2010 Kirkwood Community College graduate with an associate degree in fire science and a 2015 graduate from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in history.
Drahos started at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy on Aug. 29. Following his graduation from the academy in December, he will participate in the department's field training program.
