IOWA CITY - An Iowa City man faces prison time for an assault that occurred in a bar last month.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, around 12:20 a.m. April 19, 20-year-old Dominic J. Fosco was near the rear exit of DC's Bar in downtown Iowa City. Fosco was talking with another man, police said. When the man put his hand on Fosco's shoulder, Fosco punched him three times in the face, police said.
Police said the victim did not attempt to fight back and appeared unable to defend himself.
Fosco allegedly picked the other man up and shoved him over a railing, sending the victim more than five feet to the concrete below. Police said the victim laid motionless on the concrete for about a minute before he was helped up by a passer-by. The victim suffered bruising to both eyes and a swollen nose and required stitches above both eyes.
Fosco was arrested this week and faces one count of willful injury causing bodily injury, a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
