Iowa City man accused of kidnapping Clear Creek Amana student

TIFFIN - An Iowa City man is accused of kidnapping a Clear Creek Amana High School student and attempting to sexually assault her.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, on March 10 around 4:40 p.m., 18-year-old Zachary C. Gibbs found the victim - a juvenile female - in a commons area of the school. Authorities said Gibbs then took the girl against her will to a secluded area of the school and began to kiss and touch her against her will.
Police said the victim tried to free herself from Gibbs and told him 'no” while the attack occurred.
Gibbs has been arrested and faces charges of third-degree kidnapping, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison; and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison.
