IOWA CITY - An Iowa City man faces decades in prison for allegedly possessing and facilitating the sale of methamphetamine.
According to criminal complaints, on two occasions - March 27 and April 5 - Brandon J. Lefever, 35, met with an undercover officer at his Iowa City apartment to facilitate the sale of meth. Police said during the March purchase, a second subject came to Lefever's apartment and sold the undercover officer 14.93 grams of meth. During the April purchase, an officer bought 14.26 grams of meth directly from Lefever, police said.
Police arrested Lefever around 4:43 p.m. Thursday after a traffic stop in the area of Hawkins and Elliot drives. Police said Lefever admitted during the traffic stop that multiple syringes and 'jewelry baggies” for meth use would be found in the vehicle. Police located two syringes, one that had been used. A switchblade also was located on Lefever, police said.
Lefever admitted to using meth in the past two days and a drug recognition evaluation showed that he was impaired from the use of stimulants, police said.
Lefever now faces two counts of controlled substance violation, a Class B felony; one count each of carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor; operating under the influence, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted of each offense, Lefever could spend up to 53 years in prison.
