CORALVILLE - An Iowa City man is accused of assaulting a Hy-Vee employee during a theft of alcohol in April - following two earlier thefts of alcohol from the same store.
Coralville police said Sedrick A.D. Lewis, 43, 'body slammed” an employee into a metal fence before fleeing the Hy-Vee at 1914 Eighth St. around 2:30 p.m. April 25.
The employee was taken to the hospital to be treated for a head injury.
Earlier in the day, Lewis is accused of taking five bottles of Grey Goose vodka from a Kum & Go.
Two days before that, on April 23, he is accused of stealing bottles of liquor, valued at nearly $270, from the same Hy-Vee.
And on March 2, he is accused of stealing seven bottles of liquor valued at nearly $300 from the same Hy-Vee.
Lewis was arrested this week and faces one count of second-degree robbery, a Class C felony, in the Hy-Vee assault, and three counts of third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor, in the other three thefts.
