Iowa City Fire Department responds to apartment fire

IOWA CITY - Firefighters responded to an apartment fire early Monday morning.
The Iowa City Fire Department was called to a bedroom fire in Unit K4 at 1100 Arthur St. at 2:36 a.m. Monday. Responding firefighters encountered fire in the bedroom, and it was extinguished within 15 minutes of their arrival.
All the occupants left the apartment before firefighters arrived. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Damage to the apartment is estimated at $10,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
