Dec. 14, 2015 1:47 pm
IOWA CITY - An Iowa City man is accused of hitting a cab and a light pole while driving drunk.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, 22-year-old Jude M. Scotto was on Burlington Street approaching the Riverside Drive intersection around 2:18 a.m. Dec. 12. Scotto rear ended a cab at the intersection, police said.
Police said Scotto nearly hit another vehicle when he backed up from the collision and continued southbound on Riverside Drive. Police said Scotto lost control and hit a light pole.
The responding officer said Scotto smelled strongly of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. Breath testing showed Scotto had a blood alcohol content of .207, two and a half times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle in Iowa. Scotto was arrested and faces charges of second-offense drunken driving and driving with a suspended license.
