IOWA CITY - A homeless man was arrested for public intoxication after he was seen urinating on City Hall in Iowa City.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, 57-year-old Russell S. Weston was in City Hall, 410 E. Washington St., just before 9 p.m. Thursday. Police said as Weston exited the building, he was hit by the door. He was also observed urinating on the door and entryway, police said.
Weston was stopped outside of City Hall. Police said he showed multiple signs of intoxication and a post-arrest breath test showed his blood alcohol content to be .256 percent, above the legal limit of .08 percent.
Weston faces one count of public intoxication-third or subsequent offense, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison. Sgt. Scott Gaarde said a search of Iowa City police records shows they've arrested Weston approximately 80 times. His past arrests include 10 for trespass, seven for open container and 51 for public intoxication.
