Gas line rupture briefly closes First Avenue at Highway 100

Apr. 12, 2016 1:21 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - A ruptured gas line temporary closed traffic onto Highway 100 from First Avenue Tuesday morning.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said excavation workers digging on the sidewalk in the area of First Avenue and Collins Road struck a two-inch gas line shortly before 11 a.m.
Buelow said traffic was rerouted off First Avenue, preventing commuters from going down Highway 100 into Marion. There were no reported injuries or major evacuations.
Traffic flow has since resumed in the area.
