Fire displaces eight from Coralville apartment

CORALVILLE - Eight people were displaced following an apartment fire in Coralville Friday morning.
According to a news release, the Coralville Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at 946 Boston Way at 1:37 a.m. Authorities said the fire was contained to a second floor apartment unit and the roof area, but the rest of the apartment building sustained smoke and water damage.
Crews got the fire under control after about one hour, but remained on scene until 4:45 a.m. in order to search for hot spots and investigate.
Authorities said there were no injuries related to the fire, but one person was hospitalized for an unknown and unrelated condition. The occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The fire is not considered suspicious and the cause remains under investigation, authorities said. The Coralville Fire Department was assisted by the North Liberty and Tiffin fire departments, Coralville police and Johnson County Ambulance Service.
