Fire closes McDonalds near Eastern Iowa Airport

CEDAR RAPIDS - No one was injured when a fryer caught fire at the McDonalds near the Eastern Iowa Airport.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said crews responded to McDonalds, 8905 Runway Court SW, just before 8 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a fire mostly contained to a fryer. Firefighters encountered smoke throughout the restaurant, requiring the building to be ventilated.
Buelow said no one was injured by the fire. Linn County Public Health has been called to the restaurant and it will likely be temporarily closed, Buelow said.
