Early morning fire damages Cedar Rapids motel

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids motel sustained extensive damage in an early morning fire.
According to a news release, the firefighters were on the scene of a medical call at Motel 6, 3325 Southgate Court SW, around 5:16 a.m. Monday. While crews were there, firefighters noticed flames coming from the roof of the motel's south wing.
Firefighters attacked the fire, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the motel. There were no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
