Drugs, stolen handgun found in Iowa City apartment

IOWA CITY - Drugs and a stolen handgun were found in an Iowa City apartment earlier this year.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, on Feb. 25, officers served a search warrant at 1556 S. First Ave. No. 4. Police said 21-year-old Donta D. Reynolds was a resident of the apartment.
During a search of the residence, police found 36 baggies of marijuana in a paper bag under a sink. A stolen .380 caliber pistol was also found in Reynolds' closet. That same day, Reynolds was found in the garage of a residence on Bradford Drive in Iowa City. Police said he had been smoking marijuana and they discovered a smoking device in the garage.
Reynolds has been arrested and faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and trafficking in stolen weapons, both Class D felonies punishable by up to five years in prison; as well as possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor.
Reynolds was also wanted on a third-degree theft charge for selling an iPad Air 2.0 too an ecoATM at the Coral Ridge Mall on Jan. 10, despite knowing the device was stolen. Police said the iPad was taken during a burglary on Parsons Avenue in November 2015.
Third-degree theft is an aggravated misdemeanor.
