CEDAR RAPIDS - DNA evidence helped Cedar Rapids police make an arrest in a nearly year-old criminal mischief case.
According to the Linn County Attorney's Office, police were called to 319 Motors, 801 First Ave. SW, on July 20, 2015 to investigate damage to multiple vehicles. Police said tires were slashed and several windows were smashed, causing more than $1,000 in damage to the vehicles.
Police recovered blood from the door handle of one of the damaged vehicles and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation identified the DNA profile of Chad Teslik, 36, of Mason City.
Teslik has been arrested and charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
