CORALVILLE - A man with a blood alcohol content more than four times the legal limit was arrested after being found dancing on the side of Interstate 380.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff's office, 25-year-old Mario Gaspar-Matias was a passenger in a car driving from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City on Interstate 380 around 12:20 a.m. Sept. 6. Police said the driver of the car pulled over so Gaspar-Matias could throw up. However, police said Gaspar-Matias got out of the car and, when deputies arrived, he was 'dancing around” on the side of the interstate and drinking from what appeared to be a bottle of beer.
Police said Gaspar-Matias appeared to be drunk and a preliminary breath test showed he had a blood alcohol content of .343 percent, well over the legal limit of .08 percent. Gaspar-Matias was cleared at the emergency room before being booked at the Johnson County Jail on a charge of consumption of alcohol in a public place, a simple misdemeanor.
