Crash sends truck into Iowa City mall, driver to hospital

IOWA CITY - Iowa City police are investigating a crash that sent a truck into the Iowa City Marketplace, formerly known as Sycamore Mall.
Officers responded to McDonald Optical after a truck crashed into the store around 8:45 a.m. Friday. The driver was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for his injuries, said Sgt. Scott Gaarde.
Gaarde said the crash is under investigation, and police are trying to determine if a medical issue played a role in the crash.
