CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids woman is accused of stealing $40,000 worth of heirlooms to support her drug habit.
According to a Linn County Attorney's Office criminal complaint, 27-year-old Jessica A. Brians took heirlooms and pawned them to obtain money for drugs. Authorities said the heirlooms - which were taken from her residence, but belong to another couple - had an appraised value of $40,000.
When officers arrested Brians at her home on Tuesday, she had meth, heroin and syringes in her possession, according to the criminal complaint.
Brians has been charged with first-degree theft, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is in custody at the Linn County Jail.
