Collision involving motorcycle, van sends Marion man to hospital

MARION - A motorcycle driver was injured when he ran a stop sign and collided with a van Monday night.
According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, deputies, the Iowa State Patrol, Area Ambulance, Life Guard Air Ambulance and Marion police and fire responded to a report of a van hitting a motorcycle on County Home Road at N. 10th Street at 9:52 p.m. Monday. First responders determined that a van driven by 49-year-old Daron Bockenstedt of Edgewood was eastbound on County Home Road when he hit a motorcycle driven by 38-year-old Robert Pulju of Marion.
Authorities said Pulju was northbound on 10th Street when he ran the stop sign at the intersection with County Home Road and collided with the van. Pulju was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Pulju was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics via Life Guard Air Ambulance. His injuries are not life threatening, authorities said.
Bockenstedt was not injured in the crash, nor were the van's multiple passengers.
The crash remains under investigation.
