CEDAR RAPIDS - Police say a College Community school bus collided Tuesday with a passenger vehicle after the bus driver failed to stop at a stop sign.
About 20 members of Prairie High's freshman baseball team were on board, district spokesman Steve Doser said. No one on the bus was injured.
The school bus was headed north on North Alburnett Road when the driver, Bryon L.W. Burkey, 58, failed to stop at the intersection at County Home Road shortly after 1 p.m., according to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
Anne B. Wikle, 69, had stopped at the intersection and was driving eastbound on County Home Road when her vehicle was struck, police said.
Wikle, of Davenport, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids with what are believed by police to be non-life threatening injuries, according to the release. She was the only person in her car.
In 2007, Burkey was found guilty for driving while his license was denied, suspended, canceled or revoked, according to online court records from Linn County. He was ordered to pay a $250 fine.
In Tuesday's incident, Burkey was issued a citation, according to police.
The crash remains under investigation.
