Cedar Rapids woman dies after crash near Lone Tree

LONE TREE - A Cedar Rapids woman was killed in a crash near Lone Tree on Tuesday.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 28-year-old Brittany Voparil was southbound on Wapsi Avenue, about one mile south of Lone Tree, around 5 p.m. Tuesday when her vehicle dropped off onto the shoulder of the road. Troopers said Voparil overcorrected, entered the left ditch and was vaulted over a driveway leading to a farm.

Voparil's vehicle overturned and she was ejected. She was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Funeral services for Voparil take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, 2720 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
