HIAWATHA - Drugs were found on two Cedar Rapids residents after they led police on a chase in a stolen car.
According to the Linn County Attorney's Office, on July 31, 20-year-old Dylan M.L. Vandresar and 22-year-old Alysha P.A. Bruner broke into a garage in the 400 block of Robins Road in Hiawatha. There, Vandresar and Bruner stole the victims' Toyota Camry, along with other personal property.
Police located Vandresar and Bruner at Metro High School in the stolen car a short time after the theft was reported. Authorities said Vandresar and Bruner led police on a high-speed chase before stopping and fleeing on foot. Both Vandresar and Bruner were captured and taken into custody, authorities said.
Police said they found meth and marijuana on both of the suspects.
Vandresar and Bruner were both arrested and have been charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree theft, possession of meth, possession of marijuana and interference with official acts. Vandresar faces additional charges of attempting to elude and driving with a suspended license.
