CEDAR RAPIDS - Police say they recovered a handgun, marijuana and ecstasy after a brief foot chase Tuesday night.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said officers were on patrol in the 1500 block of A Avenue NE around 10:29 p.m. when they identified a subject, Danquel A. Faulkner, 22, of Cedar Rapids. Faulkner had an active arrest warrant, police said.
Police asked for Faulkner to stop, but he took off running through the Hy-Vee parking lot. Officers pursued him on foot and captured him near Second Avenue and Park Court SE around 10:31 p.m.
Buelow said police recovered a handgun under a vehicle Faulkner allegedly ran past during the foot chase. He also was found to be carrying marijuana and a small pill bottle containing ecstasy, police said.
Faulkner faces charges of possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon, carrying weapons and possession of ecstasy. He also had a warrant for failure to appear on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and providing false identification.
