Cedar Rapids man wanted for sex abuse arrested in Arizona

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man wanted on a sex abuse charge has been arrested in Arizona.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Jerek A. Strouf, 41, was arrested Wednesday in Maricopa, Az. Strouf was wanted in connection with a 2014 case involving the sexual abuse of a minor.

A warrant for Strouf's arrest was issued on Jan. 26. The U.S. Marshals Service Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force determined Strouf had fled the state and determined he was in the Phoenix area. Marshals from the Phoenix office saw Strouf leaving the driveway of an associate's home in Maricopa and on Wednesday he was taken to custody without incident.

Strouf is being held in the Pinal County Jail in Florence, Az., where he awaits extradition back to Iowa.
