CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested in connection with a September burglary.
According to Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow, the burglary happened at 9:36 a.m. Sept. 22 in the 3500 block of Timberline Drive NE. Police said 34-year-old Darnell C. Redmond and a female accomplice entered the residence, disabled a video surveillance system and opened a gun safe.
Police said items inside the home - including firearms - were stacked by the rear door of the residence, and the female accomplice could be seen on a separate video taking bags of items from the house to the suspect vehicle.
Police said a friend of the victim entered the residence during the burglary, not realizing people were inside. Redmond and his accomplice fled the area, leaving the firearms and other items at the scene.
Buelow said Redmond was found two days after the burglary with items taken from the residence. His fingerprints were also found at the scene of the burglary.
He was arrested this week and faces charges of first-degree burglary and trafficking in stolen weapons.
