CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man is accused of breaking into a home and assaulting a woman inside.
According to a Linn County Attorney's Office criminal complaint, officers were dispatched Friday to a residence in southwest Cedar Rapids for a welfare check. There, police learned that Chris D. Houston, 25, had broken into the residence by ripping out a window screen.
Once inside, Houston allegedly choked a woman, confined her against her will and threw her cellphone when she tried to call 911. Houston and the victim know each other, according to the criminal complaint.
Houston has been arrested and faces charges of first-degree burglary, assault, false imprisonment and obstruction of emergency communications.
