CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids couple is accused of manufacturing meth in their apartment.
Charges against the couple also indicate at least one child was present when they were making meth.
According to Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow, officers were called to the apartment complex at 941 M St. at 7:30 p.m. Sunday for a strong smell of marijuana. Police obtained a search warrant for Unit 3 of the complex, which is occupied by 41-year-old John B. Davis and 37-year-old Anastasia M. Davis.
Officers searched the residence and discovered a meth lab within the unit.
As a result of their investigation, police arrested the Davises on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession of prescription drugs, manufacturing meth, manufacturing meth in the presence of a minor and five counts each relating to possession of meth precursors.
Buelow said he did not have any information available on the child or children present in the home where the meth was being produced.
