Cedar Rapids armed robbery under investigation

CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids police are investigating an armed robbery at an area fast food restaurant.
According to Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow, officers were called to Wendy's, 1854 42nd St. NE, around 1 a.m. Monday for a report of a robbery. Police said an employee was taking out the trash when a man entered the restaurant, which was closed at the time.
Police said the man displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded cash. He fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect is described as being 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and was wearing a gray hoodie and jeans, police said. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the police at (319) 286-5491 or Linn County CrimeStoppers at 1-800-272-7463.
