Authorities identify woman killed after being hit by train in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS - A woman was hit and killed by a train Monday night.
According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, deputies, the Cedar Rapids police and fire departments and Area Ambulance responded to a report of a person hit by a train on the Union Pacific tracks near the 5300 block of Otis Road SE around 7:19 p.m. Monday. Authorities said a woman walking on the tracks was hit by a westbound train. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, the Linn County Sheriff's Office identified the woman as Alexis Ann Wood, 17, of Hudson.
The department said Wood's family has been notified of the incident, which remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
