IOWA CITY - An arrest has been made in a spate of dorm room burglaries on the University of Iowa campus earlier this year.
In early February, University of Iowa police announced they were investigating a rash of burglaries involving unlocked rooms in the Quadrangle and Hillcrest residence halls. According to criminal complaints, the burglaries happened between 1:30 and 4:30 a.m. Feb. 1.
UI police have arrested a Davenport man in the case. Police said Jacob J. Odean, 19, and two others went into 12 dorm rooms and stole property from inside. All said, the stolen items were worth more than $13,000, police said.
Odean, who is not listed as a student in the UI directory, is seen on video taking items outside, police said.
Police said each room that was burglarized was occupied by at least one person. There were no injuries or weapons displayed during the break-ins.
Odean faces 12 counts of second-degree burglary, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
