Area police departments to host prayer service

CEDAR RAPIDS - Linn County law enforcement agencies will take part in a community prayer service this Sunday.

On Nov. 20 at 3 p.m., the Cedar Rapids, Marion and Hiawatha police departments and Linn County Sheriff's Office will host a prayer service outside of their offices with area churches called 'To Pray and Serve.” According to a flier for the event, participants will pray for officers' safety and sound judgment, as well as the community's responsibility for good citizenship.

The churches involved include Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, First Lutheran Church, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Ascension Lutheran Church, Assembly of God, New Covenant Bible Church, First Church of the Nazarene and Oakhill Jackson Community Church.

The locations for the prayer service are: Cedar Rapids Police Department, 505 First St. SW; Hiawatha Police Department, 101 Emmons St.; Marion Police Department, 6315 Highway 151; and the Linn County Sheriff's Office, 310 Second Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids.
