16-year-old girl arrested while other suspects escape in early morning Iowa City robbery

IOWA CITY - A 16-year-old girl has been arrested and police are searching for more suspects in an early morning robbery investigation.
According to the Iowa City Police Department, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 800 block of South Gilbert Street at 1:15 a.m. Saturday. People who matched suspect descriptions provided by the victims were quickly located and a foot chase ensued.
Police said they were able to capture a 16-year-old girl, but other suspects escaped. Officers recovered property belonging to the victims, as well as a loaded pistol, police said.
The girl now faces one count of aiding and abetting first-degree robbery, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of the other suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 358-8477.
