CEDAR RAPIDS - A second employee is on paid leave from McKinley Middle School in connection to an ongoing police investigation of sexual abuse at the school.
The Cedar Rapids Community School District alerted McKinley families of the second employee's leave on Monday after alerting them of the first employee's leave Friday.
Those alerts were sent after the Cedar Rapids district made a report of sexual abuse to the Cedar Rapids Police Department on April 12.
Both the school district and the police department have declined to answer further questions, citing confidentiality laws concerning students and staff and the ongoing nature of the investigation.
About 520 sixth- through eighth-graders attend McKinley Middle School, 620 10th St. SE in Cedar Rapids.
