Mount Vernon came out of the second heat and won the Class 3A boys’ distance medley relay at the state track and field meet Friday afternoon at Drake Stadium.

Gracie Federspiel earned girls’ athlete-of-the-year honors, winning four events to lead Solon to the Wamac Conference girls’ track and field championship. Solon’s boys also dominated, racking up 157 points
