This week transitions from the end of the regular season for Class 3A and 4A to the postseason for all four classes. Class 1A and 2A will continue district play Tuesday and Saturday. Some intriguing matchups close the regular season with 3A and 4A substates beginning Friday.

The postseason in boys’ basketball is upon us. Opening-round district games in Class 1A begin Friday. Here’s a closer look at the districts and substates involving schools from The Gazette area.
Top-seeded district boys’ basketball teams in Class 1A and 2A include Keota, Lansing Kee, North Linn, MFL MarMac, Monticello and Alburnett. The Iowa High School Athletic Association released all postseason brackets for the classes Monday afternoon.
Alburnett has climbed to the top of the Class 1A boys’ wrestling dual rankings. The Pirates were fourth at the 2023 state duals and will host regional duals again this season. The Wamac Conference has seven teams in the field with No. 2 Mount Vernon, West Delaware and Indpendence hosting 2A regional duals. Linn-Mar is the lone Gazette-area host in 3A.
