Marion City Council members on Thursday approved the sale of the airport runway to 530 Investments LLC for $500,000. The city bought the runway and a fixed base operations building in 2015 for $1.67 million and invested an additional $1.8 million into a 2020 runway extension.

The Central Plaza in Uptown Marion now features a refrigerated loop for ice-skating, a live performance space, play equipment and an enclosed depot building.

City leaders and community members this week will celebrate substantial completion of the roughly $8.35 million Central Plaza project in the heart of Uptown Marion. The plaza includes a refrigerated ice loop, water features, public art and plenty of seating.
