League of Women Voters hosting forum for Iowa City council candidates
Event begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday; it also will be livestreamed

IOWA CITY — Residents will have a chance to hear from Iowa City Council candidates during a Tuesday forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Johnson County.
The hourlong forum begins at 7 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall, 410 E. Washington St.
Three candidates are running for two at-large seats. They are Bruce Teague, the current mayor, ACT Manager Megan Alter and Jason Glass, vice chairman of the city’s Human Rights Commission.
At-large council member Mazahir Salih is not seeking re-election.
Shawn Harmsen is running unopposed for the District B seat, now filled by Susan Mims, who is not seeking re-election.
Voters can watch the event in-person or online. The in-person audience will be limited to 25 people, who are required to wear face masks.
Registration is required for those wanting to watch via Zoom, with the registration link on the League’s Facebook page. Iowa City Channel 4 will livestream the event on Channel 4, the League’s Facebook page and its website.
The city council election is Nov. 2.
