Those were the most popular names for babies born in Iowa in 2020, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

The department’s preliminary report shows 36,000 babies were born in 2020 in Iowa. Of them, 169 girls were named Olivia and 212 boys were named Oliver.

Olivia was the most popular name for girls nationally, too, according to the U.S. Social Security Administration. Oliver is No. 3 nationally, falling behind Liam and Noah.
