IOWA CITY — Join The Iowa Children’s Museum and special guest Iowa City Press Co-op for a Valentine’s Day card-making extravaganza!
Families are invited to make hand-printed and stamped Valentine’s cards and create goodies for loved ones in this very special workshop Sunday, Feb. 12, from 2-3:30 p.m. at The Iowa Children's Museum, 1451 Coral Ridge Ave, Coralville.
The Iowa City Press Co-op is a community-access print and book arts studio, offering studio access and education in intaglio, relief, silk-screen, letterpress, and book arts. Iowa City Press Co-op is run collectively by its members, who work to foster and develop a local community of book and print artists and enthusiasts by providing affordable access to shared equipment and creating educational and professional opportunities, projects and collaborations.
The hand-printed cards will have a Valentine’s Day message using a Kelsey clamshell letterpress printing press. Families can watch the printing press in action and then decorate the front with unique designs using a collection of stamps!
This family workshop is recommended for ages 4 and up. Siblings, caregivers, and friend groups are all welcome! Children must be supervised at all times by the grown-ups in their group.
Family workshops follow a pay-what-you-can model. The Iowa Children’s Museum encourages participants to select a cost that they can afford, or pay a little extra to support other families and future programs!
Preregistration is required; visit theicm.org/familyworkshops to sign up!
