Linn County Educator of the Year to be honored

CEDAR RAPIDS - Linn County's top educators will be honored at a reception at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hotel at Kirkwood Center.
Judy Schenkelberg, a third-grade math teacher at Coolidge Elementary in Cedar Rapids, was named the 2016 Linn County Educator of the Year by a committee of educators from teachers associations in the county, according to an Iowa State Education Association news release.
Other educators being honored include language arts teacher Michael Ayers, Kennedy High; teacher librarian Amy Gardner, Kenwood, Garfield and Wright elementaries; social studies teacher Kris Fry, McKinley Middle; special education teacher Holly Reeder, Hiawatha Elementary; and kindergarten teacher Patty Rooney, Coolidge.
