Iowa high school girls’ swimming and diving 2023 regional assignments: Linn-Mar among hosts

They've been there once and now the state's premier girls’ swimming team will be making another appearance at the Linn-Mar Aquatics Center.

Top-ranked and two-time defending state champion Waukee headlines a nine-team field assigned to the Linn-Mar state qualifying meet to be held on Nov. 4

Assignments for the six girls’ swimming qualifying meets were released over the weekend by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The diving portion of the regionals will be held at three sites around the state, beginning at 5 p.m. on Nov. 2 with swimming at six sites set to begin at noon the following Saturday.

Waukee rolled to the team title at the Linn-Mar Invitational last month and will be a heavy favorite to not only win the state qualifying meet, but defend its state title in Marshalltown on Nov. 10-11.

Host Linn-Mar is the next highest ranked team in the field at No. 13. Other area schools at Linn-Mar are Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Iowa City High, Tipton, Vinton-Shellsburg and Williamsburg.

Area schools also have been assigned to Dubuque Hempstead. No. 7 Iowa City West is the highest-ranked team in the field, No. 12 Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Cedar Rapids Washington and Decorah also are in the field.
