Here are the 2024 Iowa high school girls’ swimming regional assignments

Linn-Mar will serve as one of the six host sites for the Iowa high school girls’ regional swimming meets set for Nov. 9.

The regional assignments were released Tuesday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Four of the six regional sites have Gazette-area schools entered. All regional meets begin at noon with the top 32 times in each event earning spots in the state meet Nov. 15-16 in Marshalltown.

Iowa City High, Iowa City West, Decorah and Tipton will join host Linn-Mar, competing at the Linn-Mar Aquatics Center. Iowa City High features multiple-time state champion Grace Hoeper while Iowa City West is ranked No. 6 in the state power rankings.

Cedar Rapids Jefferson and Vinton-Shellsburg have been assigned to the Ames regional where the host school is currently ranked No. 4 in the power rankings.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Cedar Rapids Washington will swim at Dubuque Hempstead. Third-ranked Cedar Falls is the top-rated team in that regional. Williamsburg is part of the Johnston regional where the host Dragons are currently ranked sixth.

Top-ranked West Des Moines Dowling is part of the Mason City regional while No. 2 Waukee Northwest will host a regional in its new natatorium.

Regional diving will be held on Thursday Nov. 7 at three sites, all beginning at 5 p.m.. Linn-Mar and Hempstead regional divers will compete at Linn-Mar. Waukee and Ames regional teams will dive at Waukee while Johnston and Mason City will combine to dive at Johnston.
