TEAMS
C.R. Xavier — Veteran Coach Jim Potts has another strong team in 2025. The Saints return four state qualifiers from a team that finished second in Class 1A, losing 5-3 to Dubuque Wahlert in title match. Junior Charlie LeGrand was the No. 1 singles player as a freshman and combined with classmate Jacob Schmit to take third in state doubles. Senior Tyler Jasper and sophomore Bennett Link, who teamed with his sister (2024 graduate Avery Link) to win the state mixed doubles title, also return as does senior Bradey Johnson. Freshman Grant Golding could also crack the varsity lineup. "We graduated two seniors from last year's team and are pleased to have five of our top seven players returning," Potts said. "I’m excited to see what this year brings for us."
C.R. Prairie — This team has the potential to be one of the best units during Coach Eric Modracek's tenure with the Hawks. Senior Anthony Schulte, a recent Coe commit, finished third in state singles last year and is considered one of the favorites to win the title this year in Class 2A. Other top returners include seniors Michael Day and Chase Beightler and Michael Day, along with junior Carson Sorg. A pair of freshmen, Dylan Schulte and Brandon Smith, could also be a part of the Prairie lineup. "Last year’s team got to 10 wins for the first time in school history," Modracek said. "This year things are set up to take the next step as a team."
IC West — Coach Marshal Moellers' team finished third in Class 2A last year, downing Linn-Mar, 5-4, in third-place match. The Trojans return senior Anthony Medina, who qualified for the state singles tournament along with fellow senior Junze Sun. Seniors Ishan Harwani and Derek Hua along with sophomore Aaron Kang also saw varsity action last season.
Linn-Mar — Coach Chris Wundram's Lions earned a fourth-place state finish last year. Junior Garrett Bauermeister was part of a state runner-up doubles team and should lead the way this season. Another junior, Quentin Spolaore, was a solid performer for the Lions in 2024. Seniors Brock Whitham and Brady Luehrsmann also saw varsity time last season.
